What Happens When You Scan a CarNotify QR Sticker?
How CarNotify works: scan the QR, pick a reason, send a private alert. The owner is notified; you never see their phone or email.
“How does CarNotify work?” is the right first question. The scan is public. The identity behind it is not.
Step 1 — camera, no app required
Any smartphone camera opens the sticker URL. If the sticker is still unassigned, the buyer can activate it with the scratch secret and a plan. If it is active, you see the alert form.
Step 2 — reason, optional note, send
Choose why you are pinging (blocked, lights on, accident). Rate limits stop spam. The owner gets the alert through their notification settings. Current delivery is email-first; you still never receive their address in the browser.
Step 3 — thread only for that incident
If both sides reply, messages stay tied to the alert id and scanner session. That is not a social profile and not a phone book.
Frequently asked questions
How does CarNotify work after a scan?
The public page loads the vehicle’s plate nickname, not the owner’s contacts. You submit an alert. We notify the owner and can keep a chat on that alert only.
Get a private QR sticker
Stop printing your phone number on the car. Create a CarNotify account or activate a shop sticker.
